TaylorHi!

Allow me to introduce myself – I’m Taylor, I like animals and long walks on the beach….oh wait, wrong profile. Hehe. I LOVE to cook, bake, and entertain for friends and family for two reasons: 1) I LOOOOOOVE food!! 2) I am a people-pleaser. I get my joy and warm, fuzzy feelings by making others feel loved and taken care of. What better way to do that than with a delicious, home-cooked meal?! Besides cooking, I do have a few other life loves: my husband (Mike), our son (“G”), our cat, quality time with friends and family, traveling, reading, cheese, dark chocolate, and wine.

My inspiration

I am by no means a professional chef, but I’ve enjoyed many years of watching my dad and two grandmas work their magic in the kitchen. Watching my dad gave me an appreciation of the fine art of technique. He’s the guy who makes his own gluten-free cornbread for cornbread stuffing to accommodate his guests at Thanksgiving. His mom, “Gramma Ta”, passed on her love of baking; next to my memories of baking side by side with her in a flour-dusted apron, her trusty flour sifter and worn recipe box are two of my most prized kitchen accessories. Finally, it was my other grandma who showed me that recipes are merely a suggestion. I remember the first time I asked her for her chili recipe. Her response? “Sure, write this down,” proceeded by a series of “sometimes I do this…”, “but if I don’t have that on hand then…”, and “you could try this…” She may not rely on recipes, but I can always rely on her to serve up nothing but warmth, comfort, and a good dose of humor (usually the dirty kind!)

My path

Sometime in college, I caught the kitchen fever and managed to feed myself through a few less creative detours involving accounting, auditing, data analytics and benchmarking, and project management. I also picked up an MBA with a focus on Entrepreneurship – my first steps toward making a different kind of dough in the kitchen. 😉

My title changed once again a few years ago, this time to Stay at Home Mom. Much of my time is now spent nurturing my greatest creation of all, my son [insert sappy awwww here]. Thankfully, with encouragement from my amazing husband and efficient use of G’s school days, here we are: my attempt at turning my passion into something bigger.

A little Keto meal experimenting in the kitchen to A little Keto meal experimenting in the kitchen tonight. Not the prettiest, I know. But I’ve officially put you in @themsquared’s shoes-this is how dinner was presented tonight, with the instructions to, “taste thoughtfully and let me know what your favorites are!”😇
🍗 Buffalo chicken & pork meatballs-some with Italian cheese blend, some with blue cheese
🥦 Steamed broccoli-half with just butter and S&P, half with leftover herbed, spinach goat cheese
🥚 Baked egg bites-some with Italian cheese blend and spicy salami, some with spin-art-chicken dip
🔥 We dipped some of the meatballs in a mix of Frank’s and butter, some in a mix of homemade blue cheese dressing and Frank’s
😋Phew! The verdict? Meatballs with Italian cheese dipped in blue cheese & Frank’s mixture, butter, S&P broccoli, and salami & cheese egg bites. Looking forward to adding this to the regular rotation!

Don’t be fooled-this meal did not come together as I originally planned. Check out my FB page {link in bio} for a short video on how I had to pivot when the meat mixture was wetter than I expected. 😬  To be honest, this was BETTER than my original vision. 😍🙌✨ It just goes to show, it pays off to power through when faced with hurdles in the kitchen. You may be *deliciously* surprised. ❤️👩🏻‍🍳

After a few months off (basically, my birthday -> NYE 😇😂), hubs and I decided to hop back on the Keto wagon for a little course correction. I love how Keto helps me get back in tune with my hunger/fullness cues. It may sound silly, but I’ve found it also improves my sense of taste and smell, which makes for even better Food Taylor Made! 😉

As I’m sure many of you can relate, it’s taken As I’m sure many of you can relate, it’s taken me an especially long time to get into the Christmas spirit this year, because 2020. 🙄😞 As soon as I started whipping up these Icebox Cookies (or “Window Cookies” as we called them), Christmas carols filled my head. 🎄🎶 Not too sweet and laced with bits of candied fruit that resemble stained glass when held up to the light, they’re a simple way to ring in the holidays. 🎅 I have so many fond memories of making these cookies with my Gramma Ta every year around Christmas and it’s clear I need to start making them earlier in the season to combat my inner Grinch. 😉

🥩 NY Strip Steak marinated in EVOO, bourbon maple balsamic, & white wine vinegar, threaded onto hearty rosemary “skewers”, which were rescued from a neighbor’s pruning bin. Gorgeous grill marks courtesy of my own personal Grill Master, @themsquared.❤️

I ❤️ Orange Grove Market! Excited for today’ I ❤️ Orange Grove Market! Excited for today’s haul, which included LEGIT chorizo, potato, & egg breakfast tacos 🌮 from @senorbobosyd (this former Arizona girl could NOT be happier!!) and a MIMOSA cupcake 🥂🧁 from @freshfrosted, which was the perfect balance of boozy, brunchy, and cakey. 😍 (Ready to fall off your chair? They’re VEGAN *and* they’re AMAZING!!!) I also picked up some short ribs 🍖 from *my* meat guy Richard @themeatemporium1073 (as well as some chicken thighs and beef sausages) and beautiful organic rainbow carrots 🌈🥕 , which will be dinner tomorrow (stay tuned!!) ❤️👩🏻‍🍳
